Don't get me wrong, I like the idea too but... I had someone in mind when I posted that.. but was not calling any one out by name. And as for the post deduction forum area, I meant spammy posts could be placed there so it wouldn't add to the post count for example making the Graveyard a post deducted forum. That way anyone who has their thread/posts placed there will not have any posts counting towards their title because anyone who posted badly enough to fall in there is probably posting for the soul reason of upping their post count.

I just don't want people who spam to get worse. Thats all.

I like the idea of +1ing a persons post if they like it. I also seen on some other forums, a karma system though I have no idea how it works other then Good karma and bad karma display for people to see.

I even made some graphics for the usually 1-5 star post count rank thing a while back for a forum that never took off. Image Image Image I do get that it could be fun to have. I guess we will see where it goes if it is implemented. Though if we do, I suggest making all posts in the archive/graveyard area not count towards it.

I was a part of a forum (BX) that had a karma system in place that displayed your total karma on the side of your posts and I would strongly advise against it. Generally you are allowed to increase or decrease another person's karma once per day. This turns into friends either giving each other karma for no reason and some people target others to decrease their karma. Generally, adding that version of karma is asking for conflict.

The liking system I would like to get put in place is similar to that of aaronin.jp/boards

Ah k. I had no idea how the karma thing worked. I agree that could cause drama and anger to anyone who gets targeted by someone they dislike.

I am going to down karma everybody!!!!!!

Seriously.

The "helpful" post idea is a good idea though. Is on another site I go on, and it kind of works. "Kind of because people never use it. -_-"

The only idea I like out of these is the quick reply. There is no need to make everything more complicated around here. Everyone should be on an equal footing. I'd remove post-count to further emphasize this, but it is a decent indicator of someones activity. I would consider replacing it with some kind of activity meter if that existed.

While I kinda hate tapatalk for being a shitty attempt at something that should exist, I guess this forum can't lose anything from joining the service.

Up to you guys, but maybe you should activate tapatalk for this forum?

Another small suggestion: Like button for FB on the main page of the website.

Another suggestion: do you remember back in the day when there was a thing that generated a forum sig image based on your stepmania stats (similar to the one FFR has). Can that be brought back? :D

I really like this idea too. Maybe I can do some research about how this or something similar was created.

Hey, I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I normally play songs that are 14-20, and after 15 the counting restarts, so it seems like I'm a complete noob, lol. Furthermore, I think that makes it more difficult to go up on rankings, but I might be really wrong on that one.
So yeah, my suggestion is to change the server so it doesnt record 16s as 0s, 17s as 1s and so on. Maybe this should be posted at one of those bugs/fixes topics, but I felt like this is more of a suggestion, seeing that in the normal stepmania the difficulty goes up to 15, not 20 or even more.

I made a thread about this in the bug reports section a while back, and apparently this problem is extremely difficult to fix. You can read about it here

Thanks for the reply. About making it more difficult to climb up rankings, does it really happen?
And since that topic is closed, I'll have to ask this here: I don't really get this client-server-protocol thing, and it seems like the problem's in the protocol, so is the main source of the problem on SMO's website(in this case, would rebuilding the website fix it?), Stepmania's main website(in this case, would contacting Stepmania to take a look at it work?), the game itself (in this case, would restarting Stepmania 5 from scrap work? OR maybe even find a way to fix it from now on?) or is it something beyond anything like that and it really is "extremely difficult", like you said, to fix it?
I know the soulitons presented for any of those cases I pointed out are dfficult enough, but its not out of reach.

The difficulty number has absolutely no bearing on experience gain whatsoever. The only thing that will help you get ranks faster is playing songs with a higher arrow density in a shorter amount of time, and scoring well on them. You can get bonus experience from accumulating toasties, and getting an FC (50 per toasty and 100 for the fc respectively).

If we were to modify the StepMania client, such that this problem were to no longer occur, this would most likely prevent other StepMania clients from connecting to SMO without encountering the glitch anyway. We would have to effectively obsolete all other Stepmania versions, and prevent all other StepMania clients from accessing SMO in order to fix a client side issue for everyone. This would mean everyone would have to toss out their StepMania, and use our client, which I really don't think anyone would want. Plus, it'd all be for an issue that is pretty minor when it comes down to it.

It has nothing to do with the site at all. It is the Stepmania Client. Not about to change it and force everyone to run on the same version. As that is the ONLY way to fix it.

New Suggestion: Under the top 20 packs thing have a "New Packs" section with 10-20 of the newest packs added to the downloads page. Since you bascially got the bulk of already created packs, it'd be mostly new packs. Just a thought.

Another small suggestion:

The smilies on the left when making a post are pretty ugly as there are little white borders on some of them and are pretty inconsistent with it. Iknow it is a really small issue, but is there any way to change up the smilies on here? Maybe you can ad some stepmania themed ones as well.

Also, no one addressed my previous post so again, that too.
