Vote on Server Behavior
So I was thinking of implementing something and I wanted to get our users opinions on what they would prefer.
1) The timing is removed as regardless of what users judge difficulty is set to on the client it will be judged as judge 4 on the server. This means if you play judge 1 after the song ends on the summary screen and you select the user or yourself it will change to have less marv and more perf/good/etc... Or if you were on say judge 7 you will have more marv and less perf/good/etc...
2) A command is added in the server that defaults to judge 4. You will be able to see judgement in the stats on the site and you will get bit of an xp bonus for playing at higher judge difficulties and non 4 judge difficulty will be listed in modifiers like percent is currently done. This means if you set your cleint to judge 7 and then do judge 7 on the server it will list you as judge 7 and the client/server should show the same (or very close to the same) stats.
3) No change of current behavior.

TIMING is in effect
Timing is basically listed as a modifier, in chat and scores in red on the site when it is detected that a client is using more loose/lax judgement window settings in their client. This means they either turned their judgement difficulty to a value below four or manually modified their stepmania.ini fille or are using a version that is modified. Your stepmania.ini should be:
Any higher values can result in TIMING results. If you are listed as timing you should insure your settings are correct.
If it is detected as TIMING you will not get experience for the song.
Using tighter (IE: higher judge difficulty or smaller values then above) you will not be detected as 'timing.'

Rules and Etiquette
It has come to my attention that quite a few people on the StepMania Online server have been doing things that are fairly irritating to other users. Since this is the case, I felt that it was necessary to post a guideline of rules and proper behavior when engaging with the community in this server.
Please review this post on the forums here. If you use this server from now on, you agree to abide by these rules, and try your best to follow basic server etiquette. Being in constant violation of these fairly simple rules will result in punishment given at the discretion of the moderator or administrator handling the situation. Since the rules are now readily available to see on the forums and here on the front page, there will be no excuse for not knowing them.
If you feel something that should be listed isn't, or you have any questions or concerns about a given rule, feel free to reply to the thread.
SMOpack Season 1
SMOpack Season 1
To commemorate the launch of the new official StepmaniaOnline website and server, we are launching an official SMOpack. Over the next few months we will be accepting simfiles for judging. We are working towards creating a more competitive smo and will be selecting simfile packs to be a part of the ranking of players. This pack will be part of the ranking once completed.
