Can't use stepmania online anymore :(

I used to be able to connect to the server with Stepmania 4 but now I read on the new beta site (beta.stepmaniaonline.net) that they no longer accept "garbage clients".
I tried downloading Stepmania 5.0 but I cannot use it even though I have linux because my system is 32-bit not 64-bit.
I feel sorry for the users who don't want to spend money on a brand new computer just to use stepmania online again. I mean people should be able to have fun without throwing computers out every year.
