Interesting occurance during gameplay.

Ok, I was playing stepmania 5.1 (32-bit on a 64-bit OS (I'm to lazy to compile the source version 
)), and whenever I'm using the arrow keys, the damn thing minimizes then resumes gameplay, thus causing me to fail.
I'm running windows 8.1 64-bit, 16gigs of ram, my vid card is a geforce1050ti, using a LCD HDTV (27" (that's what she said :)).
Anyway, if anyone could explain to me WHY this crap is happening, that would be much appreciated.
