I'm NS from the United States and I'm making step charts for pad players of all skill levels, with a focus on unusual and varied song choices. One step chart is already almost done (The Crystal Method's Sine Language). I plan to release the songs one by one and then pack them all at the end of every year. I myself am a casual player that usually plays on medium.

Hi, I'm EuouaE, and I'm from California. I like most "speed" genres (speedcore, extratone, tekno, breakcore, dancecore [not hands up!], stuff like that) as well as jungle and ambient :p.
I started playing SM in late 2015 (almost 1 year as of this post :D) and have fallen love with the game ever since. I'm now up to difficulties 13-15.
BEEB BEEB.

Hmm, 2 posts before I posted here. Whoops. ^_^'

Hi! I'm NeoSpearBlade. I was aware of the Dance Dance Revolution games but back then, I was too afraid to play it (even though I really wanted to) because I didn't want to have people watch me suck at it. StepMania changed all that. Now, I always have my USB device so that when I see an ITG2 machine*, I play it with my custom songs.....if the arcade managers have it turned on and the machine is not r23 but I digress.

I distinctly remember being introduced to StepMania back in high school on September 2007 when someone (I can't remember if it was a friend or another student) put it in the library's computer, which that in and of itself was incredible considering the librarian was OK with us browsing the web but put her foot down on installing/running other programs.

There were a few song packs (as much as you can fit inside a 500MB USB device, I think) but I remember 2 of them. The first pack I definitely remember seeing was Hopscotch Mix 2, the pack that introduced me to the concept of different kinds and types of songs for this game engine. The second one, I can't remember if it was either Jubo's Simfiles** or Otaku's Dream but I do know that it had a Bleach OP song, with a video that starts with a lion plushy singing.

As for my musical tastes, I pretty much like any song that I can follow the rhythm and/or is danceable. It's rare for me to find a song that I dislike or even hate.

I have contributed some stuff to the community, notably a few noteskins in the v.3.9+R format and some of them are still getting some use by being converted for v.5.0 but most of my contributions was just sharing my opinions about the game. All of it were in the old StepMania forums and I had over 1,000 posts over there. Some good, some bad but regardless, those were good times.

At the moment, I'm slowly getting back to StepMania. When I left on my 7 years+ hiatus, I downloaded a bunch of themes, noteskins, simfiles and other miscellaneous files. All in all, about 10-15GB. Now, I need to sort through them all and see what's good, what's bad. Plus, I need to get my hands on a version of Visual Studio that works to compile the v.3.9+R source code as the 2015 version gives me errors or am I missing something?.....

Open to reveal additional information for the asterisks.

Spoiler: show
*Unfortunately, Zenius -I- vanisher shows that there's only 3 left on Puerto Rico (where I live) but I suspect that some of the locations needs updating. There was one at a nearby shopping mall about 20-30 minutes from home and this one was being planned for a tournament starting in July but the machine disappeared before the tournament began. Hell, the tournament posters were still up after the machine disappeared. Its replacement? DDR EXTREME. It just isn't the same.....

**In the process of writing this post, I came to the sudden realization that I had misspelled the pack's name as Judo's Simfiles, a typo that went unnoticed for 9 years.

Why do I still use v.3.9+R to this day? Let me quote myself.

There are a few other things but this is the main reason why I haven't switched to using v.5.0, no BGAnimations support for older songs. In other words, the new StepMania says "**** you!" to packs like foonmix.

*sigh* Sorry about that minor tangent there, it's a topic that gets me riled up quickly. It's a long story, I'll talk about it some another day.
This is one of those topics that once I start, I can't stop. As I said, it's a long story, one that I'm not in the mood to explain.
